POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC RIGHTS OF WOMEN IN BIH

TPO FOUNDATION PROGRAM ACTIVITIES ON 8. MARCH

On the occasion of celebrating the International Women's Day, TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo is organizing a panel discussion: WHAT DOES THE MARCH 8 REPRESENT TO US TODAY: POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC RIGHTS OF WOMEN IN BIH, which will be held on March 8, 2018, starting at 10 am in the premises of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (at Zmaja od Bosne 8, University Campus). Professors of the University of Sarajevo will speak at the panel discussions: prof. dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović, prof. dr. Jasna Bakšić-Muftić and a representative from TPO Foundation dr. sci. Medina Mujić, while the panel will be moderated by: MA Melika Šahinović.

They will discuss about importance of celebrating March 8, what young people can learn from the struggle of 19th-century confidantes and activists who have tirelessly demanded rights for women and other marginal groups. Have women today achieved political and economic rights? Is there discrimination and how it is maintained on the lives of women?
Each year TPO Foundation organizes thematic discussions, exhibitions and performances on the occasion of March 8th and program director of TPO Foundation doc.dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak points out the following: "The International Women's Day should remind us of all women living and difficult conditions that cannot get employment, which are less paid than men who are excluded due to disability, who suffer from violence and other forms of discrimination.
